This policy covers the Yak Run game for iPhone, iPad and Android, and the web version, published by Lukla Logic LLC (“we”). Yak Run has no accounts and no sign-up, and we do not sell data. Here is what happens to information when you play.
What stays on your device
Your high scores, passport stamps (the places you have reached) and settings such as sound on or off and language are stored only on your device, in the app’s storage or the browser’s local storage. They are never sent to us. Deleting the app, or clearing the site data in your browser, erases them.
The route planner
The route planner is optional. When you search for a place or plan a route, the search text, the points you choose and the route requests are sent to our server, a Cloudflare Worker at neupanesudarshan.com.np. It forwards them to these services to build the route:
- Photon by komoot, for place search and finding place names from map points
- OSRM (project-osrm.org and routing.openstreetmap.de), for roads and routes
- Wikipedia, for places along the way
- Open-Meteo, for elevation
- Overpass API, for rivers and bridges
Responses are cached at Cloudflare’s edge for up to 30 days, keyed by the request, so that repeat requests are faster. Our server does not log requests or store IP addresses. Cloudflare processes IP addresses as our hosting provider.
The app also contacts overpass-api.de directly, and loads map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org. Those services see your device’s IP address and handle it under their own policies.
Location
The game only uses your location if you tap “Use my location” in the route planner and allow it in your device’s permission prompt. The location is rounded to about 1 km, used once to fill in the start point, and then discarded. It is not stored and not tracked in the background.
Ads
Yak Run is free and shows banner ads from Google AdMob on the title and game-over screens only, never while you run. Because players may be children, every ad request is marked as child-directed and under the age of consent, and is limited to G-rated ads. Ads are non-personalized: there are no interest-based ads and no tracking across apps, and the app does not use the advertising ID. On Android the advertising ID permission is removed. On iOS there is no tracking prompt because the app does not track you.
Google may still process device information such as IP address and device model to deliver ads, limit how often an ad is shown, and prevent fraud. See how Google uses information in ads and Google’s privacy policy.
Leaderboards
If you are signed in to Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), the app submits your best score to the leaderboard, where your game profile name is shown under Apple’s or Google’s terms. We do not receive your email or contact details. If you are not signed in, you can play normally.
Sharing
The share button opens your device’s share sheet with a short text and a link. Nothing is sent unless you choose where to share it.
Children
Yak Run is for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and ads are set up as described above. Parents with questions can contact us at the address below.
Deleting your data
We do not store personal data on our side. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your device. Leaderboard entries are managed in your Game Center or Google Play Games settings. For anything else, contact us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
